Bula National High School was then Bula Barrio High School. This was founded in 1966 by the former retired Public School Supervisor Sulpicio Amparado and housed at the AbaCorp of Bula, Camarines Sur under Republic Act 6054 known as the Barrio High Charter authored by Dr. Pedro Orata, the father of Barrio High School. During its first year, there were 90 students with two sections. Miss Purificasion Angarin and Miss Rosalinda Hermogeno were the advisers. That time, the principal in the Bula Central School was automatically the Assistant Principal and the principal of the Mother High School, Nabua National High School acted as the principal based from the Charter. From Barrio to Barangay High School in 1970 up to 1983. Then the enrollment increased year by year until Mrs. Merced A. Malanyaon became the Assistant Principal, followed by Mrs. Diana Saez, Mrs. Maria Cañeba and Mr. Fortunato Delino.
In the year 1984, this school was converted to Bula National High School by virtue of Batasang Pambansa Blg. 187 sponsored by Rep. Noli Fuentebella under the leadership of Mayor Benjamin Canet. In this nationalization, Mr. Hermogenes T. Tosoc was the full pledge Principal with 16 teachers, 2 Master Teachers and 8 Non-Teaching Personnel. Then, Mr. Hermogenes Tosoc was transfered to Pili National High School, Mr. Levy B. Avila, the Department Chairman of Science became the Officer In-Charge for 6 months. This was followed by Mrs. Fermina S. Nierva as the Principal. She served in the school for three years with 21 teachers, 2 master teachers and 9 non-teaching personnel. Then, in the year 1993, Mr. Bernardo B. Bolain the O.I.C. Principal became the full pledge Principal in 1994, during his term 8 teachers were added making the total of 27 teachers and 2 master teachers. The Non-Teaching Personnel from Disbursing Officer to Cashier l, Clerk l to Clerk 2 finally Supply Officer l. Mr. Bernardo B. Bolalin was re-classed to Secondary School Principal ll. From June - November 2002, Mr. Bolalin was on sick leave due to heart operation and Mr. Francisco D. Raña was chosen by the faculty and staff to be the Officer-In-Charge until the end of November 2002 when Mr. Bolalin reinstated. But then Mr. Francisco Raña acted as the permanent O.I.C. whenever the principal was out.
Then, in the year 1993, Mr. Bernardo B. Bolain the O.I.C. Mr. Bernardo Bolalin retired from the service last August 1, 2007 and again Mr. Raña became the O.I.C. During this period the school has 23 sections with 1,261 enrollees. There are 5 departments headed by respective Department Chairman; English- Mrs. Nenita B. Bersabe, Math- Mrs. Zenaida E. Benaid, Science- Mr. Levy B. Avila, Filipino- Mrs. Marilou R. Avestruz, and MAKABAYAN- Mrs. Irene C. Relos. Mr. Walter V. Almoneda as the Guidance Counselor, Mrs. Salud Vargas as the School Librarian, and with 6 support Personnel. Due to lack of teachers the school hired PTA and a locally funded.
On January 11, 2010, the Secondary School Principal II, Mrs. Mariben D. Berja assumed the position as new school administrator.
Upon assumption to office, the new school head had conducted series of environmental scanning, consultation and planning among teachers, non-teaching personnel, students, parents and community leaders to craft a comprehensive copy of the School Improvement Plan which could effectively guide the school populace towards the attainment and delivery of quality services to the students and the school with the school community.
Empowering the school stakeholders has been maximized for the holistic development of the students and to ultimately attain higher level of learning outcomes in all learning areas.
The Bula National High School implemented the School Based Training Program for Science and Mathematics as it was the Learning Action Cell Session center in Rinconada for four years. This school implemented the NEPP National English Proficiency Program with trained division mentor Mrs. Niña Tormes to improved the oral and written communication skills of both teachers and students.
July 2, 2012, Dr. Salvacion E. Largo assumed the office as the new Sec. Sch. Principal II from San Rafael National High School, Tigaon, Camarines Sur were she stayed for more than four years.
She prioritized the realignment of the teachers' load according to their major subjects, students' welfare, academic achievements and NAT results. Gives emphasis on high dropout and failure rates by Implementing the Open High School Program. New class and teachers programs were also implemented. She accomplished notable projects especially in the improvement of the physical facilities, hiring of new teachers, opening of the Open High School, Special Science and Computer Oriented Curriculum.
Eleven TLE teachers became an NC ll holder in the different areas like Horticulture-Mr. Belchezar Avila, Levy B. Avila and Nellie Baldoza, Dressmaking_ Miss Marilou Apondar, Food Processing- Evelyn C. Avila, Beauty Care- Lenie V. Vargas, Animal Production- Arlene C. Avila and Levy B. Avila, Bread and Pastry- Evelyn C. Leonardo, Computer Hardware Servicing(CHS)- Christie J. Dulfo and Juvi E. Largo, Carpentry, Masonry, Tile Setting and Electrical Installation and Maintenance- Lito Glenn F. Arabis, and Trainers Methodology 1(TM 1) NC ll- Nellie A. Baldoza in Horticulture and Christie J. Dulfo in Computer Hardware Servicing(CHS).
Our school received the 2nd Place award-Best in Gulayan sa Paaralan Implementer and Dr. Salvacion E. Largo as outstanding Principal and Mr. Anthony R. Parlero- outstanding teacher in Division Level.
